17 Goals To Transform Our World
With the new school year already close, it is time to glance into the near future at the exciting new things that lay ahead. Under the umbrella of the Humanitarian Initiative Program (HIP), a new road map will be used to guide us in our endeavours; the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals or SDG’s. Adopted by 193 countries and with 17 Global Goals and 12 years left to “end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all”, our work is cut out and the clock is ticking loudly!
The Geneva School of Diplomacy (GSD) is working devotedly to address each and every one of these goals through awareness and/or fundraising events. Last year, we brought clean water to the village of Tomondo in Zanzibar by supporting the Zanzibar Outreach Programme (ZOP) – addressing SDG number 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.
Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear: water for all by 2030. By definition, this means leaving no one behind. But today, billions of people are still living without safe water – their households, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive. This year, as a way to celebrate 15 years of our existence, GSD will address, support and contribute to SDG number 6 by organizing a fundraising event on World Water Day, Friday 22 March 2019.
We teamed up with Greencross to organize our celebration & fundraising event together. We have chosen one of Greencross’ projects: ‘Smart Water for Green Schools‘ as the cause of our fundraising, because this project provides access to water and sanitation for communities in need around the world, contributes to international efforts to secure safe drinking water and sanitation for every human being. The proceeds of the event will go to this great cause! Not wanting to reveal too much more, all we can say for now is SAVE THE DATE!
